Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) 1 2017 Notification released, AFCAT February 2017 online application, Exam Details, Exam Date, Apply Online on or before 29.12.2016

The Indian Air Force (IAF) will conduct the AFCAT 1 2017 examination in February 2017 for which online applications are being accepted from 3rd December 2016 to 29th December 2016. The official notification for AFCAT 01 2017 examination has been released now.

Applications are invited from Male and Female Indian citizens for the recruitment of officers in the Flying branch, Technical and Ground Duty Branches of IAF. Candidates, interested in applying for AFCAT 1 exam, can read eligibility and all other details on this page.

About AFCAT

The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is conducted by the Indian Air Force twice (usually in February and September) every year for selection of Officers in various branches of the force including

  1. Flying Branch (Short Service Commission)
  2. Technical Branch (Short Service Commission and Permanent Commission)
  3. Ground Duty Branch (Short Service Commission and Permanent Commission)

AFCAT Eligibility Criteria

1) Flying Branch

Education: Graduation (min 3 years) in any discipline with min 60% marks and have passed Maths and Physics as subject at 10+2 level ORœ B.E/ B.Tech from a recognized University with min 60% marks.

Age Limit: 20 to 24 years as on 01.01.2018 (born between 02.01.1994 to 01.01.1998 including both dates). Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and Current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxed up to 26 years i.e. born between 02.01.1992 to 01.01.1998 (both dates inclusive).

Min Height: 162.5 cms with correlated weight

Min Vision: 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other

2) Technical Branch

Education: Four year degree qualification and have cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with 60% marks

Age Limit: 20 to 26 years on 01.01.2018 (born between 02.01.1992 to 01.01.1998 including both dates)

Min Height: 157.5 cms with correlated weight, women – 152 cms

3) Ground Duty Branch

Education: Graduate degree (Min 3 years) in any discipline with min 60% marks or equivalent or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with a min of 60% marks or equivalent. for Administration and Logistics postsp

B.Com (Min 3 years) with min 60% marks for Accounts posts

MBA / MCA or MA / M Sc degree in English / Physics / Mathematics / Chemistry / Statistics / International relations / International studies / Defence studies / Psychology / Computer Science / IT / Management / Mass Communication / Journalism / Public Relation with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate all paper put together in Post Graduation (Minimum two year programme) and 60% marks in graduation for Education posts

Age Limit: 20 to 26 years on 01.01.2018 (born between 02.01.1992 to 01.01.1998 including both dates)

Min Height: 157.5 cms with correlated weight, women – 152 cms

* Candidates, who have failed the PABT test earlier, are not eligible for this exam.

* Final year students can also apply for AFCAT 2017 exam given that they have secured 60% marks in aggregate with no present backlog and must be able to provide provisional or original degree certificate before commencing the training.

 

AFCAT 1 2017 Selection Process

AFCAT selection process involves following steps

  1. Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) and Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT – only for Technical branch).
  2. AFSB Interview
    1. Screening test
    2. Psychological test, Group test, Medical Test and Interview
    3. CPSS (Computerized Pilot Selection System) and/ or PABT only for Flying branch

AFCAT February 2017 Important Dates

  • Notification Date: 02nd December 2016
  • Starting date for Online Application: 03rd December 2016
  • Last date for Online Application: 29th December 2016
  • AFCAT 1 2017 Written Exam Date: 26th February 2017 (Sunday)
  • Commencing the training: January 2018

 

How to Apply?

Eligible and interested candidates can now apply online on the website careerairforce.nic.in or by following the steps given below

  1. Click on ‘New Registration’ link below
  2. Fill in your details in the Registration form and Submit
  3. A User ID and password will be sent to your email.
  4. Use the User ID and password to login by using the ‘Login to Apply Online’ link below
  5. Fill in your application form, Upload recent color passport size photograph, signature and thumb impression
  6. Complete the application and Take a print out
  7. On successful completion of Application, candidates will receive Registration ID in their email

Changes/ Modification in Submitted Application

Many candidates are asking questions about whether it is possible to change or edit information once the application is submitted. Well, here is your answer

  • AFCAT doesn’t allow you to edit or change any details in your application once it is submitted (No further changes would be allowed after final submission of the form)
  • You cannot fill duplicate application with the same details (Name/ Email) as it will lead to rejection

    but for ground duty height is not necessary seen in net..i would want to wite afcat and also apply for ssc interview.

    I have completed B-Tech in electronic and communication with 77.58% passed out in year 2016.

    I very willingly want to join INDIAN AIRFORCE it is my dream of my life. My nana ji was also in INDIAN AIR FORCE now he was retired.

    So I want to join technical duty branch but my height is 155 cm,and airforce eligible criteria height is 157.5 cm.So I cannot hold this height criteria.So what I can do to join INDIAN AIR FORCE.

    • Make sure you percentage is above 60 with no current backlogs. It is working fine for me. Please recheck all your details.

      • i have 71 % and already crosschecked…and no reappears and backlogs
        can u please help me up ..previous afcat also i was getting the same problem. due to which i was not able to do so.. will u please check it out if i give u the details..

    I am in final year BE mechanical engineering in submission of part 3 I am getting a notification “fill/check your part 3 details or you might not be eligible for any of course offered” as I have selected subjects like Mechanical engineering, automation, mechatronics.

    If age limit for flying branch is 20 to 24 year then why not it is showing in course preferences. My birth date is 20 november 1993.

    I’m from B.tech Information technology . In form 3 i selected the dept than there are 3 opt asking things like PABT and NCC wing and pilot licence. I didnt wrote PABT exam before and dont know about that. I like to work in ground station is that required even for that? and for other 2 ques i gave no for pilot licence and c certificate. but my form 4 is not coming and saying im not eligible what should i do know? oly with PABT exam i can apply?

Gud eveng sir :) i did B.E in mechanical engineering from goa university , nd as per our university rule ,, engineering class is decided on the basis of aggregate marks scored in 3rd nd 4th yr of engineering ,, so i have 64% in ma degree certificate nd i got first class on ma degree certificate issued by our university ,, so am i eligible to appear for afcat exam ?
